Metz Soft Hackle

Soft hackles have long, fine awns and a thin quill pen. Because of their fine structure, these feathers have an extraordinary play in the water.

This makes them particularly suitable as a front hackle for salmon flies. They are used for various patterns of salmon, e.g. in many Danish designs, such as "Det Gule Lyn" by Kim Sørensen.

Soft hackles are also used to tie various coastal flies.
