Skittle - Tubes

Skittle tubes are a new, heavier variant of the well-known US tubes. These tubes are used when you want to fish the fly really deep. Almost all common fly patterns can be tied with these tubes. Due to the special shape of the skittle tubes, the weight has been shifted to the front of the tube. This shift in weight ensures that the fly is in a balanced position in the water.

The thickened head area of ​​this tube provides support for the swing arm, resulting in a teardrop-shaped silhouette in the fly. For this reason, skittle tubes are particularly suitable for binding Zonker tubes, as the rocker arm is kept at a distance from the tube. This allows the Zonker strip to play freely! Of course, Hairwing tubes for deep and slow flowing rivers, e.g. for use on the Danish floodplains, to be bound in this way.

Skittle tubes are mostly fished with free-swinging hooks. The hook is simply fixed with a piece of silicone hose behind the tube on the leader. The hook grabs a bite very well because it is not connected to the tube!

Skittle tubes are part of our "FlyOnly tube system", in which all components for tying tube flies can be combined with one another. The skittle tubes are mounted on an inner tube (1.8mm). In addition, the skittle tubes can be combined with outer tubes (3mm) to obtain weighted and balanced tube bodies. For this purpose, pieces of the outer tube of any length are mounted behind the skittle tube on the inner tube.
